Kantara: Chapter 1 box office collection

Kantara Chapter 1 is on a roll, and it’s showing no signs of losing steam. Rishab Shetty’s much-anticipated prequel to the 2022 blockbuster has taken the box office by storm — and it's only been three days.

With its gripping narrative, powerful visuals, and strong emotional core, the film has struck a chord with audiences across India and beyond.

After a spectacular opening on Dussehra, where it collected rs 61.85 crore nett in a single day, the film continued its winning streak with Rs 46 crore on Friday. By Saturday, it showed no signs of dropping off — in fact, it picked up pace, adding another Rs 55 crore, according to early estimates by a trading website.

That brings the total to a staggering Rs 162.85 crore nett in just three days — a number most films can only dream of reaching in their lifetime.

It’s not just the daily numbers that are turning heads. On Friday, Kantara Chapter 1 became the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year, overtaking the lifetime collection of Su From So (Rs 92 crore nett).

Then, in a matter of hours, it leapfrogged past some major releases — including Salman Khan’s Sikandar (Rs 110 crore) and Ram Charan’s Game Changer (Rs 131 crore). By Saturday, it had comfortably crossed Rs 50 crore, becoming only the fourth Kannada film to ever do so.

And the buzz isn’t limited to Indian shores. Overseas, the film has already brought in over $2.5 million (around Rs 22 crore) within just two days. With the weekend in full swing, those numbers are only expected to grow.

Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 dives deep into the folklore that made the original Kantara such a phenomenon.

Set a thousand years before the events of the 2022 film — which itself grossed over Rs 400 crore worldwide on a modest Rs 15 crore budget — this chapter explores the origins of its mythos.

The film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah, all adding richness to this immersive cinematic world.
