In Mahuli village of Bihar's Nawada district, an extraordinary partnership between a mother and her son was writing one of UPSC's most inspiring success stories. Ravi Raj, who has been visually impaired since childhood, proved that with his mother's support, no obstacle is too big to overcome.
While Ravi's father, Ranjan Kumar Sinha, worked as a farmer to support the family, his mother, Vibha Sinha, became his strongest pillar. She dedicated her life to his education, transforming their simple home into a classroom where dreams were nurtured. Their days followed a careful rhythm. Vibha would play YouTube lectures from educators like Khan Sir while doing household chores, then spend hours reading books aloud to Ravi and carefully writing down notes as he dictated. Together, they maintained a rigorous study schedule of 10 hours daily.
This remarkable dedication had already borne fruit when Ravi cleared the 69th BPSC examination and was selected as a Revenue Officer. But he dreamed bigger, aiming for the civil services. The path demanded extraordinary resilience as Ravi faced three unsuccessful attempts in the UPSC examination. Through these setbacks, Vibha's faith never wavered. She continued to be his eyes, his scribe and his motivation, her unwavering support becoming the foundation of his perseverance.
Their persistence finally won when Ravi secured All India Rank 182 on his fourth attempt. Educator Khan Sir, whose classes had been integral to their preparation, expressed particular admiration for their achievement. The victory held special significance as Khan Sir had previously recognized Ravi's exceptional dedication by inviting him to his coaching center for felicitation even before the UPSC success.
Today, Ravi's story stands as a powerful inspiration to lakhs of civil services aspirants, demonstrating how a mother's support combined with unbreakable determination can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
