SIT has an update on Disha Salian's suicide case

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, Disha Salian, died by alleged suicide in 2020. The police have been reinvestigating her suicide case after her father, Satish Salian, filed a petition alleging foul play.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed by the Maharashtra government to reinvestigate the death of Disha Salian, submitted a report to the Bombay High Court on Wednesday. In the report, they claimed that it has found no foul play in her death. However, SIT also shared that their probe into the case is continuing, and they are closely investigating every detail.

The special team has also requested the HC to dismiss Disha’s father’s plea due to the lack of supporting evidence, citing extensive documentation such as the post-mortem and forensic reports.

However, advocate Nilesh Ojha has contested the petition, claiming that the investigation was not thorough enough. The court has allowed two weeks for additional arguments.

A special team was formed after Disha’s father filed a petition seeking a police case against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and others, alleging that something suspicious had occurred.

The SIT team was led by the Additional Commissioner of Police, North Region, Mumbai, is looking closer at every detail ti the case, which was previously closed as a suicide.

For the unversed, Satish Salian claimed in his petition that on June 8, 2020, Disha hosted a party at her home, which was attended by Aaditya Thackeray along with his bodyguards, and actors Sooraj Pancholi and Dino Morea, among others. Referring to eyewitness accounts, he alleged that Disha was "gang-raped, forcibly restrained and subjected to brutal sexual assault.”

However, Disha was found dead two days before Sushant Singh allegedly died by suicide on June 14, 2020.

Senior Police Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar has previously called Disha’s father’s allegations of gang rape as "baseless and unfounded". He later clarified that the 2020 closure report was "based solely on scientific investigation conducted into the matter and the post-mortem report issued by the Borivali Post Mortem Centre.”

He also claimed that they found no signs of sexual or physical assault. However, a forensic report from the Kalina Laboratory later confirmed that Disha was highly intoxicated before her death.

CCTV footage and mobile call records from the night of the incident were closely examined, but the police inspector stated that “no suspicious or inappropriate activities” and “no concerning phone calls” were found.

However, SIT has similar findings and has matched the witness statements. The SIT added that it remains committed to a transparent and detailed investigation.
