June 14, 2020
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence. Mumbai Police ruled it as suicide by hanging based on early investigations and a preliminary post-mortem report.

June 24, 2020
The post-mortem report was released, confirming no external injuries or struggle marks.

July 25, 2020
Sushant’s father, KK Singh, filed a complaint with Patna Police, accusing Rhea Chakraborty of financial fraud and siphoning off crores from Sushant’s account.

July 29, 2020
An FIR was registered against Rhea for abetment of suicide, cheating, wrongful restraint, theft, and criminal breach of trust at Patna’s Rajiv Nagar Police Station.

July 31, 2020
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a money laundering probe against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and other family members.

August 5, 2020
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the case following a recommendation by the Bihar government.

September 4, 2020
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea's brother, Showik Chakraborty, and Sushant’s house manager, Samuel Miranda, for allegedly procuring drugs.

September 5, 2020
Sushant’s former cook, Dipesh Sawant, was also arrested by NCB.

October 3, 2020
AIIMS medical board ruled out murder, confirming Sushant's death was due to hanging and suicide.

October 7, 2020
Bombay High Court granted bail to Rhea Chakraborty, rejecting most charges filed by the NCB.

November 10, 2021
A special court in Mumbai allowed Rhea Chakraborty to de-freeze her bank accounts and recover her seized laptop and phone.

January 9, 2022

The special court ordered the de-freezing of bank accounts of two other accused, Jai Madhok and Zaid Vilatra.

Rhea Chakraborty was granted permission to travel abroad for the IIFA Awards.

A mortuary staff member, Roopkumar Shah, claimed in an interview that Sushant’s death was not a suicide, alleging visible injuries on his body. He offered to record his statement with the CBI, but no further action was taken.
