He continued in the caption, “Through it all, Tumbbad came alive. As we celebrate the 7th anniversary of Tumbbad and stand at the edge of a new, monumental journey with Tumbbad 2, our hearts are full of love, gratitude, and renewed conviction.”

He added, “Tumbbad became what it is because of you — our family, our believers. Here’s to the past that made us, and the future we’re about to create together. Thank you for everything.”

Tumbbad exceeded all expectations with its triumphant return to theatres last year. The movie, which had been a slow-burning success in 2018, became a huge hit when it was re-released in 2024.

Record numbers of fans waited in line, and the movie eventually made over Rs 65 crore worldwide—more than four times its original budget.

To add to the excitement, Sohum Shah and his company, Sohum Shah Films, have partnered with Pen Studios, which is run by industry veteran Jayantilal Gada, to produce the eagerly awaited Tumbbad 2. The follow-up aims to immerse viewers in the eerie, captivating universe that initially transformed Indian folklore on screen. The original movie has captivated moviegoers and inspired storytellers over the years. Anticipation is high as Tumbbad 2 approaches.
