Cult-classic Tumbbad was released in 2018 and didn’t receive the expected numbers at the box office. The audience was seemingly not ready for the film at the time, but things have since changed. The film was re-released in the theatres and became a massive hit with the audience eagerly waiting for a sequel.

The sequel to the cult classic was announced in a post-credits scene when the film was re-released. However, now there are reports that the film has been sanctioned a 100 crore budget for its second installment.

Trade analyst Himesh has recently taken to his social media handle to post the update on the film’s budget. He shared a clip from the film and wrote, “TUMBBAD 2 - RS 100 CRORE BUDGET - STUDIOS SHOW INTEREST!”

He added, “#SohumShah gets Rs 100 crore budget for #Tumbbad2; In talks with a leading studio for the #Tumbbad sequel, which is slated to go on floors later this year.”

The post continued, “The story is locked and pre-production work has already started. Interestingly, the first part struggled to get finances, and the second one is in demand post the success of film in re-release!”

Tumbbad revolves around the three generations of a family facing the consequences when they build a temple for the first-born. It is a mythological story about a goddess who created the entire universe.
