Mohammed Siraj may not have had the best start to the tour of England but he surely finished it on the best note possible. The seamer from Hyderabad stepped up in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and led India to a brilliant win at the Oval, also registering his second five-wicket haul of the series. The effort by Siraj helped India equalise the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
Such was his impact that Shashi Tharoor, who at one stage of the match appealed Virat Kohli to come out of Test retirement had to apologise for doubting the young Indian brigade.

Asaduddin Owaisi, another prominent politician, also reacted to India win and saluted Mohammed Siraj's herculean effort. While workload was mostly focused on Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj was the only pacer who played all the five Tests.
Owaisi gave a Hyderabadi touch while congratulating the fast bowler. He shared a GIF of Siraj celebrating a wicket and wrote: "Always a winner @mdsirajofficial! As we say in Hyderabadi, poora khol diye Pasha!"
Thank you so much sir always cheering for me. https://t.co/74iVC1hxaU— Mohammed Siraj (@mdsirajofficial) August 6, 2025
Siraj on Wednesday evening responded to the post and thanked Owaisi for the constant support. "Thank you so much sir always cheering for me," the pacer wrote.
Siraj finished as the top wicket-taker with 23 scalps and bowled a total of 185.3 overs in the five matches combined. It was more than any other bowler from either side.
Meanwhile, the 2-2 outcome saw India climb third on the World Test Championship table for the 2025-27 cycle, which is led by Australia and followed by Sri Lanka. England occupy the fourth spot.
India's next red ball assignment is against the West Indies at home, which starts from October 2. In between India have a white-ball assignment, which is the Asia Cup and it'll be interesting to see if the management give Siraj some rest or take him for the continental showdown in UAE.
