Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan may rule the world of cinema with his charisma, but when it comes to food, the actor prefers simplicity over extravagance. In an old interview with RJ Devanggana that resurfaced recently, the Jawan star gave a glimpse into his disciplined lifestyle, revealing that for years, he has been eating the same basic meals every day.

Shah Rukh explained, “I naturally prefer very simple food. I eat two meals a day: lunch and dinner. I eat nothing apart from these two meals. Mujhe pakwan pasand nahi (I don’t like fancy foods). I eat sprouts, grilled chicken, broccoli, sometimes a little bit of dal. This is all I have been eating repeatedly on a daily basis for several years.”

The actor clarified that his food choices are not part of any particular diet trend or fasting regime. “I don’t diet. It’s just my personal choice to eat light and clean,” he said. His routine, built around late-night shoots and workouts, emphasizes discipline over indulgence.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh admitted that these eating habits are mostly followed when he’s alone. When traveling or dining with friends and family, he’s far from rigid. “If I am travelling, in a plane, or visiting friends and family for dinner or lunch, I eat everything they have to offer — be it biryani, roti, paratha, ghee, lassi. I eat anything that they offer,” he said.

The actor also discussed his sleep pattern and how his routine often stretches into the early hours. “I go to sleep at five in the morning. When Mark Wahlberg gets up, I go off to sleep. And then I wake up about nine or ten if I am shooting. But then I will come home at two a.m., take a bath and then work out before I go to sleep.” He made it clear that cutting down on meals had nothing to do with intermittent fasting or any diet fads. “It was just how I preferred to live,” he added.

In another conversation with The Guardian, Shah Rukh opened up about rediscovering fitness during the COVID-19 pandemic. “At the age of 55, I took a kind of sabbatical. During the pandemic there was nothing else to do, and I was telling everyone — learn Italian cooking and work out. I was working out. I built a body.”

For a man who thrives on routine yet adapts with ease, Shah Rukh’s lifestyle mirrors his philosophy — balance, discipline, and humility, whether on-screen or at the dinner table.
