Chhath Puja: Spiritual Significance

The Sandhya Arghya is not just a ritual but a moment of divine connection with nature. The Sun God is worshipped as the source of life, energy, and vitality. Standing in water and offering Arghya represents humility, self-purification, and devotion. According to Vedic beliefs, the Sun is the king of planets and governs health, luck, and success.

As the Sun sets, devotees express gratitude for the day’s blessings and seek strength for life’s challenges. The ritual teaches that, just as the Sun rises after setting, every ending brings a new beginning filled with light and hope.

Chhath Puja Sandhya Arghya 2025: Rituals and Puja Vidhi

During Sandhya Arghya, devotees stand waist-deep in water, facing the setting Sun, and perform Surya Arghya with folded hands. Offerings include:

  • Water and milk in bamboo soops (baskets)
  • Seasonal fruits, sugarcane, and thekua (traditional prasad)
  • Flowers and diya (lamps)
  • Devotees chant “Om Suryaya Namaha” while offering Arghya. This ritual represents discipline, gratitude, and spiritual balance. Women observe fasts throughout the day, and after offering Arghya, they pray for the health and prosperity of their families.

Offering Sandhya Arghya to the setting Sun symbolises acknowledging life’s dualities—success and struggle, rise and fall. It reminds devotees that patience and faith lead to renewal, just as dawn follows dusk.

If devotees cannot reach a river or ghat, they can perform the ritual in collected water at home, maintaining purity and devotion. What matters most is faith and sincerity while praying to Surya Dev.

The Chhath Puja Sandhya Arghya 2025 is a sacred reminder of devotion, gratitude, and balance in life. By offering prayers to the Sun God, devotees express their thankfulness for life’s blessings and seek divine energy for a brighter future.
