A cabin log entry from an Air India flight between Delhi and Dubai has gone viral after it recorded the fate of a cockroach spotted mid-air—with the engineer noting that it was “hanged until death".
The incident reportedly occurred on Air India flight AI 315 on Friday, October 24, when a passenger noticed a live cockroach inside the cabin. The matter was addressed by an aircraft maintenance engineer (AME), who documented the resolution in the official logbook with the line: “Cockroach hanged until death.”
Aviation journalist Jagriti Chandra shared the image of the entry on X, captioning it: “An entry in Air India’s cabin defect log recorded that a live cockroach was discovered by a passenger. The rectification note wryly mentioned that the matter was dealt with… conclusively. Khalaas (finished), Dubai style.”

Social media reacts with humour
The post quickly gained traction, with users amused by the engineer’s dramatic phrasing. “The Bhagat Singh of cockroaches,” one user joked. Another asked, “Was the body surrendered to the family or not?” A third quipped, “The cockroach should have been deboarded midflight through the emergency door.”
While Air India has not issued an official statement, the log entry has been widely shared as one of the most memorable examples of aviation documentation, blending technical procedure with unexpected flair.
Cockroaches spotted on Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai
In another incident of cockroaches being found on an Air India plane, in August, passengers flying from San Francisco to Mumbai were in for an unpleasant surprise when a few cockroaches were spotted mid-air.
The incident occurred during the initial leg of the flight, which had a scheduled stopover in Kolkata.
According to the airline, two passengers noticed small cockroaches in the cabin. Following this, the cabin crew quickly moved both passengers to alternate seats within the same class for the rest of the journey.
After the aircraft landed in Kolkata for refueling, a deep cleaning operation was carried out by the ground staff before the flight proceeded to Mumbai.
