Akash Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Jio, was at the IIT Bombay Techfest, where he shared an anecdote with the audience about how his father Mukesh Ambani did not believe he was invited to speak there.
"To be at IIT Bombay is like a bucket list for me," Ambani began. Despite not being an engineer himself, he expressed gratitude for the honour of being invited to speak at such a revered institution.
However, the revelation that stole the show was his father Mukesh Ambani's initial disbelief in his participation at the institution. In a humorous twist, he disclosed, "My father, one of my biggest inspirations and heroes, always wanted me to be an engineer. Full disclaimer: I am not an engineer." The audience erupted in laughter as he continued to narrate the amusing incident.
He continued: "So to be invited at an engineering college of such stature has been an honour for me."
"To prove that I was actually going to be here, he sent my wife Shloka as a witness," Ambani shared.
The auditorium erupted in claps. "So really, really happy to be here, and I am quite excited to talk to you guys," Ambani concluded the story before moving on to address other pertaining questions on business, being a tech leader and being obsessed with technology.
He also shared that he has been "obsessed" with technology since his father got his first phone in 2003 and said that Reliance is equal to what India is trying to pursue on a global. He also discussed his long term plans with his company and the many advancements yet to come through Jio.
