A Flipkart customer from Madhya Pradesh who bought a laptop worth Rs 1.13 lakh from Flipkart during its Republic Day sale has claimed that he was delivered an old, dusty model instead. Souro Mukherjee, who had the delivery agent unbox the the laptop while he caught the action on camera, said that the experience taught him to never trust products ordered from e-tailers.
"I ordered a brand new Asus Laptop from Flipkart in this Republic Day sale and I received some old discarded laptop. Never trust products ordered from online platforms," Mukherjee wrote on X while sharing the video.
In the clip, the delivery agent can be seen unwrapping a sealed carton while Mukherjee says that there's a sense of insecurity while ordering expensive gadgets online fearing damage.

But the first setback came when it turned out that the laptop was a silver one. "I had ordered a black laptop," Mukherjee said in the video. Even the delivery agent can be heard saying in the video, "This looks like a used one."
On opening it, there appeared to be a thick layer of dust on the screen and keyboard.
"They sent a wrong model from a different company," Mukherjee said.
Online sellers usually encourage customers and delivery agents to record the unboxing, especially of high-value products, to help with incidents of fraud.
Responding to his post on X, Flipkart said, "We'd never want you to get anything but what you ordered and are extremely sorry about this instance. You can count on us to sort this out. Please help us with the order details so that we can look into it and assist you further. Awaiting your response."
The company further added, "Please do not share your order-specific details or personal details on this social platform as they are visible to all. Kindly reach out to us via DM to ensure your details are secure. Please do not respond to fake social media handles impersonating our brand to safeguard your interactions."
Soon, other X users began to share similar experiences with the online platform.
"The same incident happened with me. I had a phone delivered on November 9 but it had a call log of Oct 20. Shame on Flipkart for doing such fraud. They cancelled the return citing it was an open box delivery, arey basic sense. Before reaching the call log you have to switch on the phone," commented Vikash Badsiwal (@VikashBadsiwal).
Another user (@vipbande0001) said the incident with Mukherjee prompted him to cancel his order for a phone worth more than Rs 12,000. "Thanks, bro. After seeing your tweet, I just cancelled my order. I hope you get your resolution soon," he wrote.
