Paytm has offered a flat 10 percent discount on flight tickets to Lakshadweep using the promo code 'FLYLAKSHA'. The move comes after a 50-fold surge in searches for travel to Lakshadweep on Paytm, stated the company.
Flights to Lakshadweep's only airport in Agatti Island can be accessed via Cochin International Airport, with Air India operating flights.
According to the officia, the company will provide a “free cancellation” feature by allowing users to modify their travel plans without incurring cancellation fee.

Paytm Spokesperson said, "As a leader in mobile payments and the most preferred platform for travel bookings, we are excited to play a pivotal role in boosting domestic tourism to the tropical haven of Lakshadweep."
According to reports, travel platforms and tour operators are seeing a spike in searches and enquiries for Lakshadweep after Prime Narendra Modi visited the beach destination. “People are curious following Prime Minister Modi's visit to Lakshadweep,” Sandeep Arora, Director, Brightsun Travel, told Moneycontrol. "The captivating photos from his trip, showcasing the islands' pristine beauty, have sparked widespread interest. This has led many to actively inquire about holiday opportunities there, flight options and where to stay. We are getting a lot of calls asking if Lakshadweep is a good option for a beach holiday and about the packages available including hotels and flight prices," he said.
Following PM Modi’s recent visit to Lakshadweep, a social media post by a Maldives minister ignited a controversy. Thinking PM Modi’s visit aims to boost Indian islands, Maldives minister Abdulla Mahzoom Majid claimed India is shifting focus from the Maldives by promoting Lakshadweep as another tourist spot. Majid also said India faces significant challenges in competing with the Maldives in beach tourism.
Following this incident, various entities including the Indian Chamber of Commerce’s Aviation and Tourism Committee, travel agency EaseMyTrip, the Israeli embassy, and numerous celebrities have aligned with the ‘Visit Lakshadweep’ campaign. The Israeli embassy in India pitched for promoting tourism in Lakshadweep.
