Senior AIADMK leader KA Sengottaiyan, who had demanded that the expelled party leaders be re-inducted into the party, has been removed from all the posts of AIADMK.
Sengottaiyan had stressed the fact that only a united AIADMK can emerge victorious in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls and had set a 10-day deadline for the party general secretary Edapaddi K Palaniswami (EPS) to start the process of the re-induction of expelled leaders.
He had said that in case EPS fails to start the re-induction process, all like-minded party members would unite and make the reunification happen on their own.
Sengottaiyan was removed following the demands made by him. He had said that the expelled leaders had expressed willingness to return to the party without any preconditions and had shed light on the precedent that was set by previous AIADMK leaders who had reinducted leaders to strengthen the party's stance earlier.
Media reports said that the senior AIADMK leader was sacked from the party, signalling growing internal conflict within the party. His removal from the posts that he held in the party came after his ultimatum to EPS, and highlighted the apparent deep divisions and ongoing power struggles within the party ahead of the elections that are set to take place in Tamil Nadu next year.
