BJP may not win even 150 seats if PM Modi is not our leader: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey

July 18, 2025 / 21:31 IST

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, in an interview with ANI, highlighted the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the party’s electoral success and said that several sections of society that previously did not support the BJP have now started supporting due to Modi’s leadership.

Dubey said that the party’s performance is directly linked to PM Modi’s leadership.

"Today, Modiji has become the Prime Minister for the third time. If Modiji is not our leader, the BJP may not win even 150 seats (in LS polls)," Nishikant Dubey said.

The four-time MP from Godda in Jharkhand, highlighted how Modi brought new voter bases into the BJP fold, particularly among the poor.

"2029 ka chunav bhi BJP ki mazboori hai ki Modiji ke natritav mein ladna padega...(it is BJP's compulsion to fight the 2029 (Lok Sabha polls) under leadership of PM Modi). The BJP needs Modiji...As a party worker, I believe that we need Modiji's leadership, " he said

"My remarks were not meant to be controversial, but rather a reflection of the reality on the ground. The fact that Modi's name alone can secure votes for the party is a testament to his leadership and the faith that people have in him. As long as his body permits, we will need his leadership to achieve our goal of a developed India by 2047," he added.

Responding to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks about stepping aside at the age of 75, Dubey said such norms should not apply to the Prime Minister. "BJP needs him. One may agree or not, political party runs on cult...," he said.

Dubey also predicted that Modi will remain the party’s face for the next 15 to 20 years.

In the interview, Dubey reacted to his controversial remarks he made when the Opposition parties move to approach the Supreme Court against the Waqf Act, saying that the influx of approximately 4,000 people from neighbouring West Bengal's Malda, Murshidabad, and Kaliachak districts into his constituency Godda prompted him to speak out on the issue.
