'Shah Rukh Khan sent a car of bodyguards at night to our hotel to protect us', says SRK's Jawan co-actor Priyamani

SRK sent a car of bodyguards at night to his Jawan co-actor Priyamani's hotel.

Priyamani, who had worked with Shah Rukh Khan in his latest film 'Jawan', recently shared insights into her experiences working with the Bollywood superstar. Having collaborated with him previously on 'Chennai Express', Priyamani described Shah Rukh Khan as a consistent figure, maintaining his characteristic warmth and respect for others despite the years between their projects.

In a discussion with Galatta Plus, Priyamani recalled her reunion with Shah Rukh Khan on the 'Jawan' set. They first met during the filming of a metro sequence at Film City, which was shot overnight — a preference of both Shah Rukh and the film’s director, Atlee. "We received a call around 7 pm saying 'Sir wants to meet you, so please come to the set,'" she recounted. To her surprise, it was Shah Rukh who greeted them.

Priyamani led the group of actresses to meet him, and she was met with a warm hug and a kiss on the forehead from the actor. She remembered him expressing his gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much for doing the film. I’m so happy you guys are part of the film.” To which she responded enthusiastically, "Sir, anything for you.”

Throughout the shoot, Shah Rukh’s conduct was marked by fairness and kindness, treating every crew member equally and making sure to personally bid everyone goodbye at the end of the shooting day.

Priyamani also recounted a thoughtful gesture by Shah Rukh Khan that took place during a late-night birthday celebration for Atlee in Chennai. After the party, as Priyamani and other female colleagues were heading back to their hotel around 3 or 4 am, Shah Rukh ensured they were safely escorted. “He came and saw us off individually. He came to the car. And he actually had a car of bodyguards follow us up till the hotel because there was a good distance of about 45 minutes to about an hour,” she explained. When they suggested the bodyguards could leave, they were told, “No, these are special instructions given by Sir. We have to see you off.”

Priyamani's recent work includes the film "Article 370", where she starred opposite Yami Gautam, continuing her active and successful acting career.
