Who would’ve thought that Ranbir would ditch his favourite coffee for a healthy vegan drink that his wife Alia Bhatt enjoys?! The actor revealed his newfound love for matcha and the ingredients that work for him. Additionally, he is happy that he gets his coffee kick from the drink as well.

Ranbir Kapoor is now becoming a “matcha guy” thanks to Alia Bhatt. The actor revealed his newfound love for matcha and the ingredients that work for him


Ranbir Kapoor may not be the one to follow fads or trends, but he certainly has no qualms when it comes to trying drinks that his wife, Alia Bhatt, enjoys. In a quick chat with Diet Sabya, the actor revealed he has switched from coffee to matcha, all thanks to her.

“Fortunately or unfortunately, I have converted myself into a matcha guy because of my wife. It's quite divided because some people are really for it and some people are against it. But I think a good matcha with almond milk and some jaggery, I think it tastes pretty good. And it gives me my caffeine,” said the actor.

This admission by Ranbir piqued the interest of his fans, and one user wrote, “RK is a matcha lover? This is better than when he flashed his abs for me.” Another joked, “Matcha(na) Ae Haseeno.” A third said, “He lost me at ‘Matcha guy’.” Others confessed that they want to give matcha a try now that he has said it.



Matcha is certainly having a moment with Gen Z, who are consuming it for more reasons than one. Besides the fact that it packs several nutritional benefits, the aesthetically pleasing drink is Pinterest and Instagram worthy.

It’s not just Ranbir and Alia who enjoy matcha; Sara Tendulkar often posts videos where she sneaks in the vegan drink. She also shared one of her favourite matcha recipes loaded with protein on Instagram, listing its health benefits alongside.

Her caption read, “Over 30 grams of protein, with matcha and skincare benefits? Sounds like a dream to me. Ingredients: 1–2 pitted dates, 1 scoop vanilla protein, 1 scoop collagen peptides, 1 tsp matcha powder, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1–2 tbsp unsweetened almond butter, ice, ice baby & it tastes like a hug from a Japanese café.”

While Sara made the matcha protein smoothie by simply blending all the ingredients at once, it looked truly delicious.

Listing its health benefits, she said, “Dates are rich in fibre and potassium; protein helps in muscle growth and repair; collagen peptides support skin elasticity, improve joint and gut health; and matcha is rich in antioxidants and provides energy.”
