The internet has an eye for all things ‘hatke,’ and the latest is a video posted by an Indian influencer living in the Netherlands, whose Dutch mother-in-law gave her traditional pudding a desi twist by making it in an Indian steel vessel.

The video, shared by Prabhu Visha, offers a glimpse into the friendly ways different cultures are celebrated in his household. His video text reads, “When your Indian mom gives a vessel to store dessert but your Dutch mom makes a dessert in it.”

It’s easy to recognise the design of the steel vessel, commonly seen in Indian kitchens to store food. In the reel, it’s used by Prabhu’s mother-in-law to set the pudding, which takes on the shape and design of the vessel. The delectable dessert is then garnished with chopped strawberries and served in pieces.

Many on the internet reacted to the video. Some curiously asked Prabhu about the dessert, and he revealed that it’s called Bitterkoekjespudding, a typical Dutch pudding. In this dish, almond cookies are soaked in milk while preparing the custard.

Several users commented on the Indian vessel. One wrote, “How does every Indian household have this same bowl?!” Another said, “This bowl is a must in every household!” A third joked, "After breaking multiple plastic and ceramic plates, cups, and bowls, I’ve finally decided to get the standard steel cutlery set from back home.”

Many hailed this as a ‘true culture exchange.’ One netizen said, “This is so smart and a perfect blend of both cultures.” Another pointed out, “Moms are always moms… even if cultures are different, they have their mom instincts. She has beautifully used the vessel.” A user also wrote, “Magic happens when different cultures meet.”

Others appreciated the content creator’s mother-in-law, along with her smile and energy in the video. Her dessert also garnered widespread praise, with many asking her for the recipe.
