The modak craze continues in many households, and the latest celebrity to join the festive bandwagon with her recipe is none other than Shriya Pilgaonkar. She gave fans a glimpse into how making modaks is a traditional family affair that brings everyone together.

Ukdiche modak recipe

In her latest Instagram post, Shriya, dressed in traditional attire, showed viewers the process, which begins with kneading the dough finely and rolling it into small balls. These are then flattened to perfection using a traditional roti maker and filled with a sweet coconut and jaggery mixture.

Later, the actress, along with her family, shapes the dumplings by hand, skipping the moulds often used in modern recipes. They are steamed, offered to Lord Ganesha, and finally enjoyed as Prasad.

In the video, Shriya shared her love for the festive treat: “I love Ukdiche Modaks—who doesn’t? In Sanskrit, modak means anand (pure joy). So, I assume modak means ‘jo anand deta hai’ (one that gives supreme happiness). And it is true because I love this.”

Fans react

Fans flooded the comments with praise. One wrote, “So glad you’re doing it the traditional way and not with moulds.” Another said, “Omg, peak Bappa energy with all the superdevis.” Tempted by the dessert, Shriya’s friend joked, “You have my address.”

Shriya’s traditional look

For the occasion, Shriya dressed Maharashtrian-style in a yellow saree with a subtle golden border and a bright yellow floral blouse. She accessorised with delicate golden jewellery—a dainty choker, earrings, a nath, and stacked golden metallic bangles.

She tied her hair in a bun to complete the look, while her makeup was natural, complementing her skin tone perfectly. Embracing the festive vibe on Ganpati, she added a red bindi, rounding off her traditional Indian look.
