The Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) notification for November 2024 was announced on Monday, November 4. This marks the second TET notification for the year, as the government has decided to hold the exam biannually. The first phase of the TET was conducted online from May 20 to June 2, 2024.
The upcoming January exams are confirmed to take place from January 1 to January 20, 2025. Candidates can register for the exam from November 5 to November 20, 2024. In the previous TET held in May 2024, approximately 235,000 candidates participated, with around 109,000 successfully passing the exam. However, a slight decrease in the number of candidates is anticipated for the January session due to the recent District Selection Committee (DSC) exams.
Candidates must meet certain qualifications to be eligible for the TET. For Paper 1, a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed.) is required, while Paper 2 necessitates a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.). This certification is crucial for promotions to School Assistant positions, leading many in-service teachers to apply.
The Telangana TET has been conducted nine times, and the January 2024 session will be the tenth iteration. This year, the government has introduced two TET exams to address the increasing demand for certified teachers. In May 2024, a total of 286,381 candidates applied for the exam.
The results revealed a pass rate of 67.13 percent for Paper 1, with 57,725 candidates passing, and a pass rate of 34.18 percent for Paper 2, with 51,443 candidates succeeding. These results indicate an improvement over those from 2023.
Candidates who did not pass the previous exam can reapply for the upcoming TET without incurring an application fee. Additionally, those who qualify will receive a free application for the DSC exam.
