The much-anticipated film “Vettaiyan,” starring Rajinikanth, opened to strong numbers at the box office on its first day. Directed by T.J. Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions, the movie has managed to draw large crowds across various regions, translating into impressive box office earnings.
On Day 1, “Vettaiyan” collected around Rs 30 crore nett in India across all languages, as per early estimates. The film’s primary market performance is led by the Tamil Nadu region, where it earned approximately Rs 26.15 crore. The Telugu version contributed Rs 3.2 crore, while the Hindi version collected around Rs 0.6 crore. The Kannada version saw a minor contribution of Rs 0.05 crore. These numbers indicate a positive start and reflect the superstar’s massive fan following.
The movie’s occupancy rates were solid throughout the day in Tamil Nadu. In the Tamil version’s 2D screenings, the occupancy was consistent across various time slots. Morning shows saw 53.95% occupancy, afternoon shows were at 53.51%, and evening shows recorded 54.43%. There were no night shows scheduled, leading to 0% occupancy during that slot. With an overall occupancy rate of 53.96%, the film showed a good hold on its first day.
“Vettaiyan” features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh, adding further appeal to the project. The movie is expected to perform well over the weekend, considering the strong start and positive word of mouth.
The film’s narrative, powerful performances, and Rajinikanth’s mass appeal are likely to contribute to its steady growth at the box office. Industry experts are projecting higher collections for the coming days, and “Vettaiyan” is on track to become one of the top-grossing films of the year.
