Sonu Nigam reacts to Zayn Malik's admiration for his song 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin'; says, 'Praising me shows his own humility'

British singer Zayn Malik, known for his soulful voice and hits like Pillowtalk and Dusk Till Dawn, recently revealed his admiration for the Hindi song Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin sung by Sonu Nigam. In an interview with Diet Paratha, the former One Direction member expressed his fondness for the track, stating, "My favourite Hindi song is Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin sung by Sonu Nigam. It is an incredible track and I would do no justice to it if I sing it. But maybe, at some point on my tour in the future, I might attempt it."

When informed about Zayn's appreciation, Sonu Nigam responded with warmth and humility. "That’s so sweet. Zayn is a bright and talented singer. Because of Nevaan (Nigam; his son), I have heard a lot of his songs, including 'Pillowtalk,' 'Dusk Till Dawn,' and 'A Whole New World.' Praising me shows his own humility. I am all smiles," Sonu said to HT.

The song Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin from the 2012 film Agneepath is cherished for its soulful melody and poignant lyrics. Penned by lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by the music director duo Ajay-Atul, this award-winning track was picturised on actors Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.

Zayn Malik's affection for India was further highlighted when he participated in a photoshoot wearing traditional Indian attire earlier this month. Styled by ace couturier Manish Malhotra, Zayn's ensembles featured modern renditions of ethnic outfits. The standout piece was a blue and white sherwani, embroidered with intricate white thread leaf patterns. The sherwani, designed by Malhotra, included an open Mandarin collar, padded shoulders, full-length sleeves, an open front, and a tailored fit, sparking excitement among his desi fans.

Meanwhile, Sonu Nigam has been busy with back-to-back tours. Notably, he set a world record by performing two consecutive shows at the Sydney Opera House in Australia on June 10, 2024. His nearly eight-hour performance was part of a five-city tour across Australia. Reflecting on the experience, the Padma Shri recipient shared, “I still can't come to terms with what happened on June 10. It feels like a huge paradigm shift, something transformed within me. It was like the churning of the ocean or the Samudra Manthan in the ancient Bhagvat and Vishnu Puran.”
