The celebrations of Kartik Purnima begin from Prabodhini Ekadashi and last for five days. These days mark the end of the Chaturmas period, making it an especially sacred time for Lord Vishnu’s devotees.

Devotees light thousands of earthen lamps (diyas) on riverbanks and temple premises, especially in Varanasi, turning the city into a glowing sea of devotion. This grand illumination represents the victory of good over evil and the joy of divine liberation.

Kartik Purnima is considered a day of immense spiritual merit (Punya). Performing charitable acts, bathing in holy rivers and lighting lamps are believed to grant blessings equivalent to performing a thousand yajnas.
