The whole country cheered, laughed, and cried with delight when after almost 50 years of waiting, the Indian women's cricket team made history on Sunday by raising their first ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 trophy at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium.
Bollywood also joined in the stadium's celebrations, expressing their love and admiration for the women who made dreams come true.
From Priyanka Chopra to Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma to Hrithik Roshan, the film fraternity took to social media to hail the champions.
Priyanka also posted as the team created history.
Priyanka shared a photo of the victorious team on Instagram Stories with a simple yet heartfelt message: “Congratulations to our champions #TeamIndia.”
Sharing a powerful image of the women’s team lifting the trophy amid fireworks, the Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown ups superstar, Yash, wrote,
“HISTORY MADE! The Women in Blue are world champions — a monumental win that proves hard work and spirit can conquer anything. You’ve taught us to believe till the very end.”
Kareena Kapoor admitted that the historic win left her teary-eyed. Posting a video of the match’s final moments, she wrote, “Still crying tears of joy,” with a heart emoji — a sentiment many Indians could relate to after such a nail-biting finish.
Anushka Sharma summed up the pride in the country’s heart, writing, “You champions!! SUCH A momentous achievement,” while Kiara Advani called it “an incredible moment” and congratulated “our Women in blue.”
The excitement spilled over to X (formerly Twitter), where Hrithik Roshan declared, “Jeet gaye!! HISTORIC! Congratulations Team India on our first Women’s Cricket World Cup win. To the beginning of many more… All my love & respect.”
