India’s maiden triumph at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup has sparked a wave of jubilation online, with prominent voices hailing the team’s grit and glory after a 52-run win over South Africa in Navi Mumbai.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai drew parallels with India’s iconic cricket milestones: “That was a nail-biting women’s World Cup final, memories of 1983 and 2011 indeed. Congrats to Team India, I'm sure will inspire a whole generation. Great tournament from South Africa too!”

Senior journalist Navika Kumar (@navikakumar) wrote: “The Women in Blue have conquered the world stage — with skill, steel & sheer fire. They didn’t just win a World Cup… they changed the story of Indian Cricket. India bows to its daughters. Proud is an understatement.”

Singer Adnan Sami called it a generational moment: “So proud of our phenomenal champion ladies who have not just won the ICC WCWC 2025, but have created history for being the first champions of women’s world cricket from India!!! This is a huge milestone and achievement which will inspire many generations to come!!”

Cricketer Yusuf Pathan added: “History created! Huge congratulations to the Indian Women’s Cricket Team on winning the 50-over World Cup for the very first time! What a proud moment for the entire nation.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) summed up the sentiment with a celebratory post spelling out: C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N.S. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia also announced a cash prize of Rs 51 crore for the ICC Women's World Cup-winning Team India.

Speaking to ANI, Saikia said, "In 1983, Kapil Dev brought about a new era and encouragement in cricket by making India win the World Cup. The same excitement and encouragement has been introduced by the women today. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team have not just won the trophy today, they have won the hearts of all Indians. They have paved the way for the next generation of women cricketers... Women's cricket already reached its next level when our team defeated Australia in the semifinals..."

India’s victory, powered by Shafali Verma’s 87 and Deepti Sharma’s all-round brilliance, has not only rewritten cricket history but ignited a national conversation about women’s sport and its future.
