Director Pa. Ranjith’s Thangalaan draws inspiration from Naga mythology, adding a unique layer to the film's powerful narrative. Starring Chiyaan Vikram and set against the historical backdrop of the Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka, Thangalaan portrays the lives of mine workers, blending mythology with reality.

Since its release in southern languages on August 15, 2024, the film has garnered widespread attention, with a Hindi release scheduled for September 6th.

The core of Thangalaan is deeply influenced by Naga mythology. The Nagas, depicted as divine or semi-divine beings with half-human, half-serpent features, have long held a significant place in Indian folklore.

These mystical creatures are believed to reside in the netherworld, and their influence is woven throughout the film. From costumes to character design, elements of Naga culture are evident, with the cast adopting a style reminiscent of these mythical beings.
