Actor Chiyaan Vikram recently opened up about his personal life in a rare interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, where he spoke about his first meeting with his wife, Shailaja, and their interfaith marriage.
Vikram, known for keeping his family life private, shared that he was on crutches when he first met Shailaja.
Vikram also reflected on the differences between their personalities and backgrounds, especially their interfaith marriage. "She’s Malayali, and I’m Tamil... Today, you can have live-ins, but then, it was considered taboo to even talk to a girl, and somebody who’s not... I’m half Hindu, half Christian, and she’s Malayali, there’s all of that happening. But I’m glad I met her, and I’m glad she’s there." Vikram shared

Describing Shailaja as a ‘good mother’ and a ‘friend,’ Vikram credited her for being a constant source of support in his life. "And after I got married, it’s always been my wife. She’s always been that source of support. She’s a psychologist, but she’s constantly helping people. She’s an angel of sorts... When I saw her the first time, I just felt something. She told me later that bell rang for her, and something happened for her to know that I was the guy" he said, humorously adding that while he enjoys dressing flashy, Shailaja would often question his choices.
Over time, their bond grew stronger as they learned to navigate their differences. "You don’t think of it as a habit, but you become so used to the other person that you can’t be without them," Vikram explained.
Today, the couple shares a deep connection and are proud parents to Akshita and Dhruv Vikram, the latter having followed in his father’s footsteps to become an actor.
