Oppo Find X9 Pro

Oppo Find series phones have always been the best the company has to offer. The Find X9 Pro -- that lunched today -- at Rs 1,09,999 follows the same philosophy of delivering a premium design, best performance, a solid and practical camera setup and most important good value -- for a flagship smartphone.

I’ve been using it long enough now as my daily driver to test how it performs in the real-world conditions and if you are running about the specs that it offers (you can read our launch article). However, the review isn't about the specs that it brings to the table, instead it is more about how the device behaves in real life, how it shifts the everyday flow of shooting, reading, responding, and passing time with a display that tries to avoid getting in your way. And if you are also considering the Find X9 Pro and want to know how the phone actually feels to use, then read on..

Oppo Find X9 Pro Design and build

Oppo Find X9 Pro is as premium a phone as it can get. But, it feels truly comes alive the moment you hold it in your hands. All thanks to the new flatter, cleaner body design with rounded corners and streamlined overall design language. The edges don’t bite into the palm, and the 8.25mm thickness feels well-judged, especially given the 7,500mAh silicon-carbon battery it houses.

The new flush camera island might be the most underrated change here. Without a raised ring or protruding bump, the back sits flat on a table, and more importantly, your fingers aren’t constantly brushing against the lens edge while gaming or recording video and for me personally, the phone does not wobble much when kept on the flat surface.

When it comes to buttons, the usuals are there -- the volume and power buttons are right where they should be and they are pretty tactile and responsive too. The new Snap button is a welcome addition and it is far more practical than I was expecting it to be. The Snap Key on the left can be programmed for screenshots, voice recording, or triggering Oppo’s AI Mind Space — and because it’s placed slightly higher than the power key, it’s hard to hit accidentally.

The Quick Button -- has been carried forward -- from the Find X8 Pro bottom edge is entirely camera-focused. Pressing it jumps straight into the camera app, even when the phone is locked, and holding it takes burst shots. Oppo’s intent is clear: to make the camera feel like a tool that’s always one step closer. In practice, it worked well enough that I started relying on it instinctively.

The durability story is unusual for a flagship. The phone carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, along with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and SGS drop resistance. Numbers aside, what this means is that the phone can withstand more than the typical flagship can — dust, occasional water spray, submersion, and falls — without feeling tank-like. For someone who reviews phones often, it’s rare to see a manufacturer lean so heavily on rugged certifications while maintaining a sleek profile.

Oppo has stuck to a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 1.15mm symmetrical bezels this time, and the effect is subtle but noticeable. Without the curve, there’s more usable space along the edges, especially for reading and gaming, but the bezels are narrow enough that the phone still feels immersive. The display is bright — in bright sun, indoors, or during low-light reading — thanks to its peak 3,600-nit ceiling and 1-nit minimum brightness. The PWM dimming at 2160Hz helps during late-night reading sessions, where the panel is easier on the eyes than many other flagships I’ve used recently.

Watching HDR content isn’t dramatically different from what other top-tier displays offer, but Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR Vivid support help the phone stay consistent across platforms. What stood out to me more was the 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. It works even with damp fingers and unlocks reliably in the dark — not a dramatic upgrade, but it eliminates one of the common annoyances with optical sensors.

A small but thoughtful addition is Vehicle Motion Alerts, which places subtle cues on the screen when the system detects movement. It’s meant to reduce motion sickness, and while I’m not someone who gets queasy in cars often, I did notice that reading long articles on the move felt steadier.

Oppo Find X9 Pro Software and features

The big change is also in terms of the operating system. Find X9 Pro comes with Oppo's new ColorOS 16 based on Android 16. In the latest iteration, the ColorOS 16 is much cleaner and more streamlined and consistance across the board. Animations feel tighter, transitions are smoother, and Oppo’s Luminous Rendering Engine helps the UI maintain consistency across different refresh rates and workloads. Some of the system’s changes are cosmetic — icon resizing, folder resizing, and the introduction of Aqua Dynamics floating cards and all things combined allows users to make the phone feels more personal in day to day life.

AI Mind Space is another good addition here. It connects with Google Gemini and allows mixed-media capture of notes, screenshots, recordings, and images. I used it mostly to save article excerpts, meeting notes, and images that I needed to refer to later. Combined with the Snap Key, it becomes a fast “memory capture” tool. It’s not a replacement for broader ecosystem apps, but it’s a strong start for those who want AI-assisted personal organisation without switching services.

Oppo has added some AI tools like AI Writer, AI Recorder, and AI Portrait Glow into a new AI Hub. And most of them are welcome additions and work fine and without any issues.

Another big update here is a longer software support policy — five years of OS updates and six years of security patches — is a welcome shift. It reflects a growing trend among Android manufacturers, and it means that the Find X9 Pro is more viable as a long-term device.

Oppo Find X9 Pro Performance and thermals

The Find X9 Pro runs on MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9500 chip with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It is a flagship phone -- powered by MediaTek's flagship chip. And, It’s a fast and fluid phone, but more notably, it’s a calm one. Synthetic scores sit near the top of the 2025 charts, but as mentioned, my focus is mainly on real-world usage. What really shaped my experience was the sustained performance. Dynamic Frame Sync, the programmable task scheduler, and the larger vapour chamber combine to keep temperatures in check during longer gaming or editing sessions.

Even after pushing the phone to its limits for good an hour and half -- includes BGMI and 1080p video editing -- the phone remained calm and composed. There was no lag or stutter. Also, the games' frames did not dropped. Most importantly, the phone's tempreture remained well within check.

In day-to-day use — multitasking, switching between apps, browsing, reading, and light processing — the phone handles everything without hesitation. But more importantly, it feels predictable, without the occasional heat surges that some earlier high-end phones suffered from.

MediaTek’s recent flagship chips have matured, and that shows here. The phone doesn’t spike too aggressively in power usage, and transitions between heavy apps feel smooth. Network stability also benefits from AI LinkBoost, which improved video call consistency when moving between Wi-Fi and 5G zones.

Oppo Find X9 Pro Camera

This is where the Find X9 Pro shines. The Find X9 Pro is the latest evolution of Oppo’s Hasselblad partnership, and after several days with it, the system feels balanced across lenses, which is difficult to achieve with such different hardware inputs.

The new 200MP periscope telephoto camera is the big upgrade. It uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor, supports 10cm macro, and stretches up to 120x digitally. The short-range macro mode produces clean detail without needing to switch lenses manually, while medium- and long-range zoom shots maintain sharpness and stability better than expected. The difference this year is how quickly the lens locks onto subjects. The Lightning Snap Engine helps here, especially with moving objects.

The 50MP main camera — built around Sony’s LYT-828 sensor — produces photos with strong dynamic range. Oppo says it can capture 17 stops; While it is hard to test, the results overall is smooth tonal transitions, especially in mixed lighting. Highlights roll off gently, and shadows retain enough detail without artificial brightening. The new True Color Camera sensor improves consistency between the three lenses, and color accuracy across the system is more uniform than the previous generation.

The 50MP ultrawide lens, complete with autofocus, allows close-range macro as tight as 3.5cm. This lens surprised me during product shots and nature photography because fewer brands offer consistent macro performance across multiple lenses. That versatility makes the Find X9 Pro feel more like a kit than a single camera module.

The 50MP selfie camera with 4K 60fps Dolby Vision video worked well for handheld vlogs and video calls, and video stabilization across the system remains steady.

Oppo Find X9 Pro Battery and charging

7,500mAh in a flagship device that doesn’t look inflated. The battery life is impressive here. Even with prolonged use I managed to get around 1 day of battery life with more than 30 per cent battery left. And, the usage here is pretty heavy with constant messaging, browsing, games, etc. If you are someone who has moderate usage, then the phone will easily last for 1 and half days.

Charging options cover nearly everything: 80W wired, 50W wireless, 55W USB-PD, and 10W reverse wireless.

Verdict

The Find X9 Pro feels like a phone built around consistency. The flatter design, new buttons, and flush camera module quietly improve daily use, while the display and software keep a steady rhythm across tasks. Performance stays stable even during longer sessions, and the camera system remains dependable across lenses with enough flexibility for varied shooting. The large silicon-carbon battery adds confidence to long days without needing constant charging. After using it across different situations, the phone’s strength lies in how reliably it handles everything without drawing attention to itself. It’s a well-rounded flagship for long-term use.
