Bollywood star Nora Fatehi has hit back strongly at reports linking her to a drug syndicate allegedly connected to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Just two days after her name reportedly surfaced in the Mumbai Police’s investigation, the actress took to Instagram to shut down the rumours, calling them “baseless” and “clickbait”.
Fatehi, best known for her hit number “Saki-Saki”, made a firm statement through her Instagram story, beginning with a bold “FYI (For Your Information)” header.
She wrote, “I DONT go to Parties.. Im constantly on flights.. Im a workoholic, I dont have a personal life.. I dont associate myself with people like that.”
She went on to explain that she prefers to spend her downtime with friends or relaxing abroad. “I spend my entire days and nights working on my dreams and goals! Dont believe anything you read!” she said, adding that the rumours were nothing but attempts to drag her name into controversy.
The backlash came after the Mumbai Police Anti-Narcotics Cell busted what they described as a large drug network allegedly operated by wanted dealer Salim Dola, said to be a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim.
His son, Taher Dola, who was extradited from the UAE in August, has reportedly given investigators key information about drug-fuelled parties involving several well-known names from the film industry.
According to remand papers accessed by India Today, Taher confessed to organising drug parties in India and abroad. The documents stated: “Further investigation into the said accused No. 05 has revealed that he is organising drug parties in the country and abroad and supplying drugs to those parties.”
They went on to name several people allegedly present at such gatherings, reading: “The said accused has previously organised drug parties in the country and abroad with Alisha Parkar, Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor and her brother Siddharth Kapoor, Zishan Siddiqui, Ori alias Orhan, Abbas Mastaan, Loka and many other people and has himself joined in them and is supplying drugs to these and other people.”
Reacting to this, Nora said she was tired of being unfairly targeted. “It seems like my name is an easy target! … Please refrain from using my name and image on situations that have absolutely NOTHING to do with me! This will come with a heavy heavy price! Respectfully.”
Meanwhile, both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Mumbai Crime Branch are digging deeper into the alleged drug ring. Several actors, filmmakers and rappers mentioned in the documents are expected to be summoned for questioning as the investigation unfolds.
