Hollywood director Yorgos Lanthimos is back with another concept film titled ‘KINDS OF KINDNESS’.
The cast is led by Emma Stone, who previously collaborated with Lanthimos on the 2023 film ‘Poor Things’ which bagged four Oscars including one for Best Actress. The other cast includes Joe Alwyn, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hunter Schafer, Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau and Mamoudou Athie.
The description of the film is: "KINDS OF KINDNESS is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader."
Recently, new character posters for the film were released. If they are any indication of how the film is going to be then we are in for the ride of our lives. The posters are very trippy, creative and dark.
The film will premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival on 17 May and will get a theatrical release on 21 June. It is distributed by Searchlight Pictures.
The film has officially received an R-Rating by the Motion Picture Association for strong and disturbing violent content, sexual content, full nudity and language. The film’s runtime has been revealed. Running for 2 hours and 44 minutes, this film marks Lanthimos’ longest film ever.
According to Vanity Fair, ‘Kinds of Kindness’ is described as “hostile, aggressive, more like his early work and almost 164 minutes long (2 hours 44 minutes).”
The first trailer was released on 27 March and it did not follow the trend of trailers giving too much away. The trailer gave too little away. There are many speculations regarding the plot of the film.
‘Euphoria’ actress Hunter Schafer weighed in on her role in the film, “I’m so flattered that they have included me in the list of main actors and everything. I’m in it, truthfully, for one scene. I filmed for one day.”
