Alia Bhatt has built her career on strong, diverse roles, whether it was the vulnerable Veera in Highway or the fearless Gangubai in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Her choices have often earned both critical acclaim and box-office success, making her one of the most versatile and bankable actors of her generation. Yet, despite this impressive line-up, Alia feels she has not yet ventured into a space her young daughter Raha could truly enjoy.

In a recent conversation with Grazia, the actress revealed that motherhood has shifted her outlook on the kind of projects she wants to take up. “I haven’t made a film that my daughter can watch, so these are little things that come from within,” she admitted. The thought has sparked her growing interest in comedy, a genre she has yet to explore. “The reason I’m being pulled towards a comedy is because I haven’t done one. You have to find something that’s inspiring you or pulling you towards it.”

Alia explained that her career choices have always been instinctive rather than calculated. She reflected, “I’m very curious to know what it is that leads us to make these different choices at different times in our lives. I feel like there is a deeper core level there. It’s also absorbing what’s happening around you.” While she acknowledged that planning too carefully can often lead to regrets, she said she has very few such moments in her journey so far.

Speculation about Alia’s next step intensified when she was spotted at Maddock Films’ office last year. Dinesh Vijan’s banner is celebrated for its successful horror-comedy universe with films like Stree and Bhediya. Fans were quick to wonder if Alia might be considering a Maddock-style comedy or even a family-friendly horror-comedy. Without revealing details, she teased, “There is some exciting stuff, nothing I can fully talk about, but let’s just say if I put my heart into it, I will land up going in that direction.”

Beyond acting, Alia is equally invested in storytelling as a producer. Under her own banner, she is quietly developing new scripts. “I’m always looking out for it. I have a couple of lovely stories that I’m trying to develop on my own as well. It’s not like work isn’t going on to create that opportunity,” she said.

On the acting front, Alia was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Up next, she will appear in YRF’s spy thriller Alpha and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
