Jithu Madhavan’s sophomore Malayalam directorial “Aavesham” hit theatres on April 11. Since then the film has been proving day after day that it is an absolute blockbuster hit. Led by Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, the film has amassed more than Rs 44.3 crore in net earnings within 12 days of its release in India, with Rs 3 crore (and counting) on the 12th day, Tuesday.
“Aavesham” follows the story of three engineering freshmen who hatch a daring scheme to recruit a notorious gangster in a bid to seek vengeance against their tormenting seniors, to help them exact payback. However, their plan quickly unravels as they realise it's fraught with complications right from the outset. As tensions rise and unforeseen obstacles arise, the trio finds themselves in over their heads, facing a precarious predicament that threatens to spiral out of control.
At Rs 30.45 crore, Aavesham had a strong opening week of business. With revenue of Rs 3.7 crore, Rs 4.55 crore, and Rs 5.15 crore on the second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively, it then kept up its momentum throughout the second weekend. Even though the second Monday saw a decline, the movie's total result is still favourable. On its second Monday, the movie brought in an estimated Rs 3 crore net, bringing its 12-day total to a healthy Rs 46.85 crore net in India, according to Sacnilk’s report.
Produced with a reported budget of Rs 55 crore, Aavesham has managed to recoup almost all of its production expenses within the initial twelve days of release. Yet, to ensure profitability, the movie must sustain its momentum in the upcoming weeks. Bolstered by favorable audience feedback and the possibility of reaching the coveted Rs 100 crore mark, Aavesham appears set for ongoing triumph at the box office.
The incredibly talented ensemble cast of the film is a reason within itself as to why the film is soaring new heights by the day. The incumbent Fahadh Faasil steers this action/drama with his fellow colleagues, namely, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sajin Gopu, Roshan Shanavas.
Fahadh’s previous film, “Maamannan” also did very well at the box office, racking up Rs 52 crore in nine days in theatres. Its safe to say south Indian cinema is going nowhere with the current climate of cinema lovers along with the plethora of amazing content brewing down there.
