K Drama actor Kim Min-seok’s father passes away at the age of 57

Kim Min-seok mourns the loss of his father

South Korean actor Kim Min-seok is going through a difficult time following the passing of his father.

On Thursday, 5 September, a representative from his agency confirmed the heartbreaking news, telling Maeil Business Star Today, "Kim Min-seok's father died on that day."

The actor is currently with his family, quietly mourning and paying his respects at the mortuary. The wake has been arranged at Pohang Citizens' Funeral Hall in North Gyeongsang Province. The funeral ceremony will take place on Saturday, 7 September, followed by the burial at Pohang City Crematorium.

Kim Min-seok first entered the show bizz in 2012 with the youth drama Shut Up Flower Boy Band, and has grown slowly to built a name for himself with leading as well as supporting roles.

Fans may remember him when he played the lead in the film Shark: The Beginning, showcasing his deep focus as an actor. Over the years, he has won audiences' heart over in popular Korean dramas such as Descendants of the Sun, Doctors, Innocent Defendant, Because This Is My First Life, and Lovestruck in the City.

Known for his grounded screen presence and relatable characters, Kim has become a familiar face in the Korean drama landscape. Most recently, he starred in Mr. Plankton and is currently filming tvN’s upcoming drama Taepung Corporation alongside Lee Junho and Kim Min-ha.

While he has been focused on his professional commitments, Kim is understandably taking time away from work to be with his family and grieve in private.

As news of his loss spreads, fans and fellow actors have taken to social media to offer their condolences and words of comfort.
