On March 18, Hollywood actor Gal Gadot was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking a significant milestone in her career. However, the celebratory event was marred by protests, as pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli demonstrators clashed nearby, highlighting the tension surrounding the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Dozens of protesters gathered near the venue just as the ceremony was wrapping up.
Despite the area being cordoned off with a tent to block visibility, the protests caused a significant disruption. The crowd chanted slogans such as "Up up with liberation, down down with occupation" and "Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime," with tensions running high. A protester, speaking to Variety, expressed deep disapproval of Gadot being honoured, saying, "There’s no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli," while also accusing the actress of not using her platform to speak out. "She keeps her head in the sand," he added.
The situation escalated when a pro-Palestinian protester snatched an Israeli flag and attempted to flee the scene, prompting a response from the police. Authorities intervened swiftly, ensuring that the situation did not spiral further out of control.
Amid this chaos, the Walk of Fame ceremony continued with Hollywood stars gathering to celebrate Gadot's achievements. Hosted by Steve Nissen, the event saw filmmaker Patty Jenkins, actor Vin Diesel, and Israeli actress Shira Haas in attendance. Speaking to the crowd, Gadot expressed her gratitude, saying, "I’m just a girl from a town in Israel, this star will remind me that with hard work and passion and some faith, anything is possible." She further acknowledged the impact of her career, thanking Vin Diesel for giving her a break in the Fast and Furious franchise, which marked her first-ever movie role. "You took a chance on a complete unknown and invited me to the Fast and Furious family, talk about starting big. It was my first movie ever, and your faith in me completely changed the course of my life," Gadot said. She described Diesel and the rest of the Fast and Furious crew as a "family."

While the protests highlighted the deep divisions over the ongoing conflict, Gadot’s career continues to flourish. The actor is set to star as the Evil Queen in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler in the titular role. The highly anticipated film is scheduled for release on March 21.
