Hollywood veteran Demi Moore celebrated a remarkable victory at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, winning the Best Female Actor Performance in a Comedy or Musical for her role in The Substance. The momentous win was met with elation from her daughters, Scout, Tallulah, and Rumer Willis, who shared their joy on social media, posting a heartwarming video of their celebration with the caption, “She did it.”

For Demi Moore, this Golden Globe win was deeply personal. Despite a career spanning over 45 years, this was the first time she had won a major acting award.

In her emotional acceptance speech, she expressed shock and gratitude, saying, “Oh wow. I really wasn’t expecting that. I’m just in shock right now. I’ve been doing this a long time, like over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor. I’m just so humbled and so grateful.”

Moore, 62, gained recognition in Hollywood through iconic performances in Ghost (1990) and If These Walls Could Talk (1996), both of which earned her previous Golden Globe nominations. However, despite her undeniable success in the industry, she revealed that for years, she struggled with self-doubt, particularly due to being labeled a “popcorn actress.”

During her speech, Demi Moore reflected on the criticism she faced earlier in her career. She shared that a producer once dismissed her as a “popcorn actress”—a term implying that her films were commercially successful but lacked artistic depth. “At that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have—that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged,” she recalled.

Demi Moore admitted that she internalized this criticism, letting it “corrode” her confidence over the years. However, she revealed that The Substance became the project that changed everything for her. “At a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance, and the universe told me that I wasn’t done.”

Moore’s daughters were among her biggest supporters throughout this journey. As the award was announced, Scout, Tallulah, and Rumer Willis were seen in a video jumping with excitement, cheering their mother’s long-overdue recognition. Rumer later commented on the post, “GO MAMA GO. So so proud of you. Omg I love you so much. So well deserved.”

Moore, who has been a Hollywood trailblazer for decades, ended her speech on a powerful note: “I’ll just leave you with one thing that I think this movie is imparting—it’s in those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough, or basically just not enough.”
