Alia Bhatt, one of Bollywood’s most beloved actors, recently shared her thoughts on why she decided to sign the film Jigra shortly after giving birth to her daughter, Raha Kapoor. As she promotes the film, Alia opened up about how motherhood has deeply influenced her personal and professional life. In a candid conversation, she revealed that becoming a mother brought out a fierce protectiveness in her, which she describes as being in her “tigress mode.” This maternal instinct not only impacted her life as a mother but also helped her connect with her character in Jigra, who fights to save her brother in the film.
"When I signed Jigra I think I was in my tigress mode," Alia said. "I was in my most protective—like, 'No one come near her,' mode. That was the energy." This raw, instinctive energy that she was experiencing as a new mother gave her the strength to take on the demanding role in the film.

Alia continued, "That is why I always say destiny, luck, life has so much to play in things going a certain way." She emphasized that the timing of her receiving the offer was almost serendipitous, as it came during a period when she was feeling these intense protective emotions, and that the film allowed her to channel those feelings into her work.
Alia’s journey into motherhood has been transformative for her both as a person and as an actor. She candidly spoke about how having her daughter Raha has given her life a new sense of meaning and purpose. "I don’t think I am the same person," she admitted. "Life has so much more meaning and I think actors can get really self-obsessed if they are constantly thinking about themselves... Now when there is another being in your life suddenly it is like Alia who? It is Raha, Raha, Raha!" Alia explained how her focus has entirely shifted to her daughter and how motherhood has instilled in her a deep sense of nurturing that she had never felt before. "The focus is on her and nurturing, and my mind always being there is something that will never change now."
This new chapter in Alia’s life has not only shaped her as a person but has also informed her artistic choices. Jigra, an intense emotional thriller directed by Vasan Bala, is set to release in October and features Alia in a leading role alongside Vedang Raina, who plays her brother in the film. The plot revolves around their relationship and the lengths her character goes to protect him. The film's theme of familial bonds, particularly the protective nature of her character, deeply resonated with Alia, given her own recent experiences as a mother.
Alia’s return to the screen post-pregnancy has been met with much anticipation, as fans are eager to see how her personal growth and life experiences will translate into her work. This is particularly significant as Alia, known for her strong performances in films like Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi has often chosen roles that showcase her versatility as an actor. Jigra will be another such film, and it holds a special place for her, not just because of the story, but because of the timing and personal connection she felt with the role.
