Director Shashank Khaitan has produced several successful Bollywood movies, including his debut Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, which starred Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
Following the film's success, Shashank turned it into a franchise with the release of the second film, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which received just as much praise. Since its release, fans have been waiting for the third instalment of the franchise. However, the filmmaker has provided an update on the film.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shashank has talked about his intentions and plans for the Dulhania franchise.
The filmmaker said, “We all want to come, whether it’s Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, or me, but we are still waiting for the right story. I think when we are all happy with the good story, we will definitely come up with it.”
He added, “There’s nothing that we are in talks about or something like that. We are talking all the time, we are discussing ideas all the time, but nothing has materialised so far. We are very responsible about how we want the franchise to go ahead, and we don’t want to make a film just for a project.”

He further noted, “We want to tell a good story, which will be engaging and fun. We have received so much love for the Dulhania series. We want to ensure that we don’t take the audience for granted.”
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was released in 2014 and instantly became a celebrated classic Bollywood romance. The second instalment, Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), explored more serious themes without losing its entertainment factor.
Both franchises became box-office hits, with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt becoming fans’ favourite on-screen pair.
