A case from Amritsar, Punjab, has come into focus after a man claimed he caught his wife with another man inside a hotel by tracking her scooter using a GPS device. The incident, which involves a couple married for nearly 15 years, has been reported by local media and has triggered wider discussion around trust, privacy, and the easy availability of tracking technology.
The husband, Ravi Gulati, shared his account with Khabar Har Pal India, saying he had been suspicious about his wife’s movements for over a year. According to him, this was not the first time he had faced such a situation. Ravi said that in 2018, he had allegedly found his wife with another man at a hotel. At that time, both families intervened, apologies were offered, and the matter was settled. Ravi said he chose to forgive her because they had young children and he hoped the marriage could be saved.
The recent incident unfolded when Ravi’s wife left home in the afternoon, around 3 to 3:30 pm. Ravi told Khabar Har Pal India that he tried calling her multiple times, but she did not answer. Growing worried and suspicious, he checked a GPS tracker that he had installed earlier on her Activa scooter. After seeing the live location, he closed his shop and followed the signal.
Ravi claimed the tracker led him to a hotel in Amritsar, where he found his wife with another man. He said the GPS device had been installed because his doubts had been building for a long time and he wanted to know where she was going.
Ravi’s father, Parvez Gulati, also spoke to Khabar Har Pal India, saying the issue had been ongoing for several years. He claimed that the man seen with his daughter-in-law had earlier been introduced to the family as her brother and was a frequent visitor to their home. He said that after the earlier incident, both families met, including at the residence of a local MLA, and the matter was resolved peacefully at the time.
According to Parvez Gulati, the situation has now resurfaced. He said his daughter-in-law has clearly stated that she does not wish to continue living with Ravi and wants to return to her parents’ home. He added that the family has tried to contact her relatives several times to discuss the matter, but has not received any response so far.
While the allegations remain a personal and legal matter, the incident has also drawn attention to how GPS tracking devices, commonly sold for vehicle safety and theft prevention, can be used to monitor someone’s movements. As such tools become easier to access, cases like this highlight the growing intersection of personal relationships and everyday technology.
