Amitabh Bachchan greets fans on his birthday

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan once again demonstrated why he still has a special place in the hearts of millions of people on his 83rd birthday.

Following his long-standing custom, the megastar personally greeted the sea of fans who had gathered to join him in celebrating the special day outside of Jalsa, his home in Mumbai.

Fans had been gathering outside his bungalow since the wee hours of the morning, many with handmade cards, posters, and flowers in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the actor who has influenced their lives for decades.

And as always, Bachchan didn’t disappoint. Dressed in a bright yellow and orange patterned jacket over a classic white kurta-pyjama, he appeared in the evening to loud cheers and applause.

He acknowledged the love of the audience with folded hands and a kind smile, taking the time to wave and even toss some candy to his admirers, which made them even happier.

Videos of the touching moment, which showed the actor in a happy and light-hearted mood, swiftly went viral on social media. The number of people who came to wish him well and the warmth of their presence seemed to truly touch him.

Big B has remained humble and grateful despite his enormous fame and decades in the public eye.

Across the industry, tributes poured in. Friends and colleagues like Shatrughan Sinha, Farhan Akhtar, Manoj Bajpayee and Kajol took to social media to send their wishes. Kajol called him a “forever rockstar,” while Kriti Sanon shared that his legacy continues to inspire her.

Beyond the screen, Amitabh shares his life with wife and long-time collaborator Jaya Bachchan, whom he married in 1973.

The couple has two children, Shweta and Abhishek, and three grandchildren—Navya, Agastya, and Aaradhya.

On the work front, there’s no slowing down for the veteran star. He’ll soon be seen in Section 84, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, and later in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, where he reprises his role as Ashwatthama.

He also continues to host Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17, bringing his signature charm to living rooms across the country.
