The Secunderabad parliamentary constituency in Telangana comprises the assembly segments of Musheerabad, Secunderabad, Amberpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanatnagar, and Nampally.

Secunderabad, an urban constituency, holds significant political clout due to its substantial Muslim voter base, which accounts for approximately 12.19% of the total population. Traditionally a Congress stronghold, the party secured victory in 12 out of 15 Lok Sabha elections and one by-election. However, in the last two elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged triumphant.

In the upcoming 2024 polls, the BJP has nominated sitting Member of Parliament G. Kishan Reddy from Secunderabad, aiming for a third consecutive win in the seat. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has fielded T. Padma Rao Goud, while the Congress has nominated Danam Nagender.

Kishan Reddy, who also serves as the Union Tourism Minister and Telangana BJP president, secured victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, defeating BRS candidate Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav. In 2014, the BJP's Bandaru Dattatreya, presently serving as the Haryana governor, emerged victorious. Dattatreya first claimed victory for the BJP in Secunderabad in 1991 and went on to represent the constituency four times between 1991 and 2019.

Kishan Reddy is vying to retain Secunderabad, which boasts a substantial middle- and upper-middle-class voter base, as well as settlers from northern Indian states.

BRS candidate T Padma Rao Goud began his political journey as a corporator and entered the state assembly for the first time as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Secunderabad in 2004. In last year's assembly polls, BRS candidates secured victory in six of the seven assembly segments falling under the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency.

Telangana, with its 17 Lok Sabha seats, is scheduled to go to the polls on May 13.
