Ahead of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, security forces are set to tap in to AI and other tech to boost security at and around Red Fort in New Delhi. According to a report by news agency ANI, security forces will use enhanced security capabilities and automated crowd estimation tools.
The report mentions that security forces are set to deploy advanced artificial intelligence systems at and around the Red Fort for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. These systems will include enhanced surveillance capabilities and automated crowd estimation tools.
Use of AI-driven cameras
According to the report, an AI-driven camera surveillance system will be deployed at the Red Fort. The camera system is equipped with security features such as crowd estimation, facial recognition, and vehicle number plate recognition. The AI-powered cameras will keep a close watch at entry and exit points. The real-time crowd data will be generated for security personnel to monitor. Furthermore, the report says that the cameras will also be able to detect abandoned baggage and unauthorised intrusions. An official told ANI that the crowd estimation will be done through the AI cameras.
A total of 700 CCTV camera, including more than 150 with advanced video analytics capabilities, will be deployed across the Red Fort complex. Not just that but a massive security force of over 10,000 personnel, including Delhi Police and paramilitary forces, will be on duty to safeguard the event.
The report also states that while facial recognition system has been used previously, a new number plate recognition system will be in place this year. The system will automatically capture video and still images of every vehicle entering or exiting the area. It can also capture images of the vehicle's driver by coordinating with multiple cameras and sensors.
