Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar recently gave fans a heartfelt glimpse into her mother’s incredible journey as a paratrooper, sharing a candid video on Instagram.

In the post, Bhumi revealed that she had secretly filmed her mother during a drive, capturing her emotional recollections of serving the nation.

In the video, Bhumi’s mother, now 70, reflected on her time in the army and the challenges she faced as a woman in a male-dominated field. “I can go to any extent to do anything. My time, they were not taking girls in the army, only the medical corps,” she said.

She proudly recounted her accomplishments: participating in two Republic Day parades, a rare feat given that most people never get the chance to attend even once.

She also spoke about the struggles she faced advocating for women’s inclusion in the forces. “I fought with the DG, General Bakshi was there. I said, ‘Why don’t you take us in the army? What’s the use of our training?’ We trained so hard as paratroopers, the camps were grueling. But now, the younger generation can join, and girls are an important part of all three forces. I’m so proud of them.” She added that witnessing the impact of her efforts and the foundation she helped lead brings her immense satisfaction.

Bhumi captioned the post with an emotional tribute: “Randomly filmed mom on our drive to the factory and her words stayed with me. Growing up listening to her and my dad’s stories of a time when opportunities were fewer but that didn’t limit their dream for their country. For them, India always came first. I have inherited my love for India from them and I wear my nationality as a badge of honour. Happy Independence Day.”

Fans and friends poured in love and admiration for the post, appreciating the rare insight into Bhumi’s mother’s patriotic service. The video resonated strongly as India celebrated its 79th Independence Day, highlighting the sacrifices of earlier generations and the doors they helped open for women in the armed forces.
