The public is still very involved in the uncertainty surrounding Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal's delayed wedding, and a minor but significant shift on social media has now spurred new conversation.
The couple, who have been at the centre of speculation for weeks, quietly added the nazar (evil eye) emoji to their Instagram bios—a gesture many fans interpreted as a way of warding off the negativity and unwanted chatter that has clouded their personal lives recently.
The update, comes at a time when emotions remain fragile and rumours continue to circulate. Their wedding, scheduled for 23 November, was put on hold at the very last moment, leaving fans stunned and confused.
What was meant to be a celebratory chapter for the pair has instead become one of the most emotionally charged off-field stories of the year.
Since the postponement, there has been a lot of silence, conjecture, and worry, particularly since it was revealed that Smriti's father had a heart attack a few hours prior to the event. Both families were understandably shaken by the emergency, which abruptly stopped the wedding preparations.
Amita Muchhal, Palash's mother, has been attempting to calm the chaos with a steady voice. In the midst of all the confusion, her optimism and compassion have provided rare comfort. She acknowledged the emotional turmoil both families are going through in an interview with Hindustan Times.
“Smriti and Palash dono takleef mein hain,” she said softly, describing how overwhelming the sudden health crisis was for everyone present. She also shared a tender detail—that Palash had been genuinely excited to begin his married life. “Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride. I had even planned a special welcome. Everything will be fine, shaadi bohot jaldi hogi.”
