The abrupt halt of what was expected to be one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year, the union of Indian women’s cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and filmmaker-composer Palaash Muchhal, has now spiralled into a full-blown internet controversy, dragging wedding choreographers into the spotlight.
Amid the chaos, an anonymous Reddit post made unverified claims alleging that two choreographers from the Bosco dance group, Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz, were involved in the chain of events that reportedly led to the wedding being called off. The post quickly gained traction, and the choreographers, especially Nandika were under intense scrutiny online.
By evening, their names were trending prompting Gulnaaz to break her silence with an official clarification.
Taking to her Instagram stories, she wrote, “I've been noticing a lot of speculation and false claims going around about Me & My Friend Nandika, so I want to clear this Straight that We Are not the people involved in this issue. Just because We know someone socially or have a photo with them doesn't mean We are connected to their personal matters. Please let's keep things respectful and not jump to conclusions. We appreciate your understanding and support.”
While Gulnaaz addressed the issue head-on, Nandika Dwivedi has remained silent and has since made her Instagram profile private. Online discussions continue to mention her name, though no evidence has surfaced to substantiate any claims.
Meanwhile, both Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal have maintained complete silence. Neither has issued a statement, and their teams have not responded to requests for clarification.
Wedding organisers and family members told reporters that the ceremony was postponed due to a medical emergency within the family. No further details were shared, and both families are said to be focusing on the health situation rather than addressing social media speculation.
