Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh and Abhishek Sharma share a bond that extends beyond cricket. Yuvraj has been both a strong supporter and a fierce critic of Abhishek Sharma in recent years.
Alongside other batters, the left-handed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Abhishek Sharma played a memorable innings, scoring 63 runs off 23 balls with the help of 3 fours and 7 sixes in the match against Mumbai Indians. He scored his half-century in 16 balls, which now stands as the fastest by any SRH batsman in IPL history.
In spite of his outstanding performance, Abhishek Sharma faced criticism from his idol and mentor, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, for his dismissal. Yuvraj commended Abhishek's record-breaking batting performance in Hyderabad but also criticised him for the manner of his dismissal. Abhishek attempted to pull a short ball from Piyush Chawla, but was caught by Naman Dhir at deep mid-wicket.
Yuvraj posted on X, "Waah sir Abhishek waah (clap emoji) great innings but what a splendid shot to get out on! Laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahi maante! Special (slipper emoji) waiting for you now
@IamAbhiSharma4."

Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched a 31-run victory against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday in Hyderabad, setting new batting records. A collective team performance led SRH to score 277/3 in the first innings, marking the highest total in IPL history, surpassing RCB's previous record of 263/5 against Pune Warriors in 2013.
Abhishek Sharma said that the management gave freedom to "go out and express yourself", and that was the key factor in SRH's performance."
"To be honest I didn't realise that it was the fastest fifty for SRH and for this year. I just wanted to go and express myself and after getting out I realised that it was the quickest. I enjoyed it," said 'Man of the Match' Sharma.
