Abhishek Sharma's form and feistiness have largely defined India's batting in the 2025 Asia Cup. After smashing India's highest-ever T20I individual score against England earlier this year, Abhishek has elevated his daredevilry to a new level. In addition to his big-hitting prowess, he is notable for his consistency.

On every important batting metric, Abhishek is ahead of the other batters in the Asia Cup. In India's final league-stage match against Sri Lanka on Friday, he topped Mohammad Rizwan's tally of 281 runs in 2022, breaking the record for most runs in an Asia Cup edition already.

Abhishek, who is closing in 1000 T20I runs, started the competition with three consecutive 30s in the group stages against the UAE, Pakistan and Oman. But in the Super Fours stage, he activated beast mode and crushed rival attacks in the Powerplay with three consecutive fifties, scoring 74, 75, and 61 in the last three games.

Along with former India captain Rohit Sharma and Pakistan's Rizwan, Abhishek presently holds the joint-world record for the most consecutive 30-plus scores in T20Is. He had previously scored a century in his previous T20I appearance before the competition in February.

Abhishek Sharma has scored 309 runs in six matches and is closing in on Virat Kohli’s long-standing record for the most runs by an Indian in a multi-nation T20I tournament. Kohli set the mark nearly 11 years ago, amassing 319 runs in six innings during the 2014 T20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament as India finished runners-up.

Abhishek can also surpass Phil Salt's record for the most runs scored in a T20I tournament or series by a batter from a Test-playing country. To exceed Salt's 331-run total, which the England opener set against the West Indies in five T20Is in 2023, he needs just 23 more runs.
