Actor Neena Gupta calls the salwar kameez the best travel outfit—comfortable, practical, and stylish. Here’s why she swears by this desi look.

Neena Gupta’s Instagram videos on life and love are widely watched for their candidness. Her new post was no different, as she talked about her love for Indian suits. She hailed it as the best travel outfit because it is high on comfort and multi-purpose. If you are wondering how, read on…

Wearing an easy-breezy printed suit with desi juttis and sunglasses, the veteran actress shared how the salwar kameez makes for a practical choice, especially when you have to go to the bathroom while travelling. She also added that the size of the cuff has to be precise.

“I am wearing a salwar kameez. My point is, when you travel, this is very comfortable. You have to keep the cuff just 12 inches. Because when you go to the bathroom on a train or a plane, it should not touch the dirty floor,” she said.

Elaborating more on its versatile use, she added, “If you feel cold, the dupatta can be worn like a shawl. So this is a very good Indian dress to wear while travelling. I know people wear track pants and all, but this is equally good.”

Being designer Masaba Gupta’s mother, she didn’t forget to share styling tips and how the salwar has to be tailored right for maximum comfort. “You can wear it with Indian juttis or sneakers too. But you have to ensure that the bottom should be ankle-length and the cuff should be 12 inches.”

In the end, she shared that it’s a favourite of hers because it has a solution for all problems. Her video was captioned, “Sach kahun toh (If I tell you the truth…).”

Many fans agreed and shared their thoughts on the traditional attire that has lost its place to track pants. A user wrote, “I heard the word pauncha after ages... My mom used to wear sarees but while travelling she’d always wear a salwar suit. Now she also wears joggers or pants, but it was mom’s uniform when we travelled as kids.”

Another said, “Sach kahun toh, Neena-ji, aapne bilkul sahi bayaan kiya hai. I’ve been looking for the right travel attire for ages. And yes, your dress is perfect for travels in tropical places with warm climatic conditions. I’ll continue looking for travel attire for colder climes. Thank you!”
