Ahead of India's forthcoming ODI series against Australia, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma displayed a touching gesture of generosity during a recent practice session at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

A young admirer attempted to approach Rohit during the session, but a security guard stopped him. The crowd cheered when the 38-year-old batting veteran hurriedly intervened, reprimanding the guard and securing the child's passage.

Fans applauded "Hitman" throughout the practice as Rohit looked in superb shape on the field, executing elegant sweep strokes and accurate cover drives. Young Mumbai cricketer Angkrish Raghuvanshi participated in the session, which was led by former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit's wife, was on the sidelines for the two-hour session.

Later another video went viral on social media that showed one his shots hit his Lamborghini parked outside the ground.

The video has Rohit going down for a slog sweep and smashed the ball out of the ground over what would have been the deep mid-wicket position.

As the ball went sailing over the ground, some of the fans shouted “gaya gaadi”. Rohit also showed some concern while looking in the direction of the car and then gave a sheepish smile under the helmet.

Rohit is still committed to his role as a senior batsman even though he is no longer captaining the ODI team. Under Shubman Gill's guidance, he will play as a specialist hitter in India's forthcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, which starts on October 19.

Later this year, Rohit and Virat Kohli are anticipated to play domestic cricket in order to maintain their match readiness for India's 2027 ODI World Cup defence.

The two cricket greats are now only seen in the ODI format after retiring from T20Is and Test cricket. Shubman Gill, the recently appointed ODI captain, also considered the crucial role the two veterans still play in the dressing room.

"The experience that we both have and the matches that we've won for India. There are very few players who have won so many matches for India. There are very few players in the world who have the same skill, the same quality, and the same experience. So, in that sense, I'm very happy," Gill said in the press conference on Thursday.
