Over‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the last couple of weeks, the question of Rohit Sharma staying with the Mumbai Indians or not has been the main topic of discussion among the fans on social media. Everyone seemed quite excited about the possibility of the former India skipper teaming up with Abhishek Nayar, his long-time friend, at the Kolkata Knight Riders before IPL 2026. In any case, it looks like Mumbai Indians have reacted to the speculations with a slightly mysterious yet quite direct statement.

Not long ago, it was reported that Abhishek Nayar will be the new head coach of KKR after Chandrakant Pandit. The report turned out to be true as Nayar was officially announced the head coach of KKR on October 30. He has been heavily involved in the development of numerous Indian cricketers, among them Rohit Sharma, has always been recognized as the one who played a significant role in the opening batter’s comeback and stability. Considering their strong friendship as well as professional relationship and also the fact that KKR recently posted on social media, supporters immediately started imagining that Rohit might leave Mumbai and choose to join Kolkata.

On Thursday, however, Mumbai Indians appeared to put the rumours to rest.

The franchise posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) that read: "Sun will rise tomorrow again ye toh confirm hai, but at (K)night… मुश्किल ही नहीं, नामुमकिन है!"

The cleverly worded post, playing on the word “Knight,” was widely interpreted as MI’s firm and emotional rejection of the rumours. With its confident tone, the statement made it clear that Mumbai Indians have no intention of letting their legendary batter go anywhere.
