The cricket community is speculating about a potential blockbuster transaction involving Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, and Sanju Samson between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the IPL trade window continues to create excitement. If the deal goes through, CSK might reportedly acquire Samson in exchange for Jadeja and Curran.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has now fanned the flames by asserting that MS Dhoni is the motivation behind the decision and that it might be his last IPL season.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaif speculated that Dhoni, who is renowned for his strategic clarity, might be prepared to let go of a match-winner like Jadeja in order to get Samson as a long-term leader.

Kaif brought up Jadeja's disastrous tenure as captain in 2022, when Chennai won only one of their first eight games before Dhoni had to take over and save the season.
"Both players started their IPL careers in 2008. Since joining CSK, Dhoni has never left the franchise. If this trade happens, it could be his last season maybe even one he doesn't finish. If Sanju settles well with the team and management, Dhoni could hand him the reins," Kaif explained.
He went on to say that CSK's leadership strategies have long focused on identifying a deserving replacement for Dhoni, a goal that was derailed when Jadeja found it difficult to perform in the position.
"Jadeja tried captaincy but wasn't comfortable. Not everyone can lead in the IPL. Dhoni's long-term vision seems clear – he’s ready to give up Jadeja to bring in a future captain," Kaif said.
If the deal goes through, Dhoni's remarkable IPL career may come to an end and the Chennai Super Kings will enter a new era.
